10 families lose homes in predawn Manila fire


At least 10 families lost their homes in a predawn fire that hit a residential area in Manila's downtown Sta. Cruz area Tuesday. No one was initially reported killed or injured in the fire at the corner of Oroquieta Street and Rizal Avenue, radio dzBB reported. The fire started at about 1 a.m. and reached the third alarm before firefighters put it out before 3 a.m. Firefighters also tried to keep the fire from getting near the Light Rail Transit's Doroteo Jose station. Arson investigators are still looking into what caused the fire. — RSJ, GMA News
