NDRRMC: Death toll from 'Dodong' rises to 3


The death toll from tropical cyclone "Dodong" (international name: Sarika) rose to three on Monday night after a resident initially reported missing was found dead last weekend. In its 5:00 p.m. update on Monday, the National Disaster RisK Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) identified the latest fatality as Najib Amir, 19. Amir, first reported missing in Sta. Rita River in Central Luzon on June 9, was found drowned last Saturday at Mabayuan River in Olongapo City, the NDRRMC said. Those who were earlier reported dead were Mark Daniel Ken Mateo, 10; and ALejandra Mortel, 56. One was reported injured, while 12 remain missing, the NDRRMC said. At least 325 families or 1,151 people from 14 villages in Batangas, Cavite and Taguig City were evacuated at the height of the floods. Five dead in Mindanao floods Meanwhile, the NDRRMC said at least five people died and two were injured in floods that hit Mindanao since May 31. It said the floods affected 70,800 families or 349,376 people in 275 villages in 38 towns and five cities in nine provinces, including Bukidnon, Compostela Valley, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, North Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, South Cotabato, Maguindanao, and Lanao del Sur.
