The Philippine Embassy in Yemen said 33 Filipinos are expected to arrive from capital city of Sanaa on Tuesday. The DFA said the Philippine Embassy will continue to assist Filipinos who wish to leave Yemen under the Philippine government's repatriation program after the politico-security situation in Sanaa worsened. The Filipinos will arrive in two batches:
the first batch of 12 Filipinos are expected to arrive on Tuesday morning, while the second batch of 21 Filipinos will arrive on Tuesday afternoon. On June 6, the DFA raised the crisis alert level in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa to alert level 4, where a mandatory evacuation and repatriation of Filipino nationals in an affected area will be implemented at the Philippine governmentâs expense. Alert level 3, or voluntary repatriation on governmentâs expense, is still up over other areas of the country. Repatriation of Pinoys About 118 Filipinos have so far taken advantage of the voluntary repatriation program since it began on May 30. The first batch of 11 Filipinos left Sanaa and arrived in Manila on May 31. This was followed by arrivals in Manila on: June 3 (eight Filipinos); June 5 (11 Filipinos); June 7 (26 Filipinos); June 8 (45 Filipinos in batches of 19 and 26); June 9 (10 Filipnos in two batches of five), and June 10 (seven Filipinos). On May 24, the DFA raised the crisis alert level in Yemen to "3,"in Yemen, making available voluntary repatriation at the Philippine governmentâs expense. In coordination with Department of Labor and Employment, a deployment ban was put in place. Likewise, all Filipinos are advised not to travel to Yemen at this time. The Embassy also reminded Filipinos to comply with the deployment ban, as it discovered that three Filipinos arrived in Yemen recently, a violation of the ban. Filipinos in Yemen are advised to call the Embassy teams in Sanaa and Aden immediately if they feel unsafe. They are also asked not to venture outside if they feel that their safety is at risk. The Embassy teams are headed by Philippine Ambassador-designate Ezzedin Tago, who covers Yemen. The Embassy teams are assisting the Filipinos in their repatriation to the Philippines, together with Philippine Honorary Consul in Sanaa Mohammad Al-Jamal. - VVP, GMA News
