PNoy praises SC for allowing live coverage of Ampatuan trial

President Benigno Aquino III has welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court allowing the live coverage of the Maguindanao massacre trial. At a press briefing shortly after the SC made the announcement, Aquino repeatedly praised the high court for its ruling although he admitted that he has yet to see the resolution. Aquino said his administration has been pushing for the live coverage for the benefit of the families of the victims of the massacre. He said they also want the public to know the truth behind what is now considered as the worst case of election-related violence in the country. Talagang magastos yung byahe plus yung pagtira dito," he said. He said with the live coverage of the court proceedings, the families of the 57 victims will be able to monitor the case from their home provinces. Aquino added that it is also important for the public to know what happened and how it happened in order to prevent a similar incident. - Amita O.
