BI to deport 3 Chinese jewelers

Three Chinese jewelers arrested for swindling a Filipino will be deported, but only after their criminal cases in court have been resolved or after they have served their sentences if convicted, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said Wednesday. BI Commissioner Ricardo David Jr. said Jin Yao Quan, Lin Yee Pin and Chin Chan Ching will remain detained in Bicutan, Taguig while their cases are pending in court. David has ordered summary deportation proceedings against the accused swindlers. The three aliens were arrested last June 1 in Sta. Cruz, Manila after a Filipino businessman, Rodolfo Mendoza, filed a complaint alleging that the suspects failed to deliver assorted jewelry he bought from the suspects for P200,000. The suspects were later charged with syndicated estafa before the Manila prosecutor’s office and then turned over to BI custody last June 3. Attorney Maria Antonette Mangrobang, BI intelligence chief, said one of the aliens, Jin Yao Quan, had a fraudulent working visa while Lin Yee Pin’s passport had fake arrival and visa extension stamps. Mangrobang also said Chin Chang Ching is an undocumented alien because he failed to present any immigration document. — ELR/VS, GMA News
