PHL exhibit in China invites investments

The Philippines sought to invite more investments from Shanghai, China with an Independence Day exhibit last weekend. Entitled "Kalayaan Fiesta Shanghai 2011: Happy with the Filipino Community," the event was held on June 12 at Barrels@The Cool Docks on the Bund in Shanghai. "The celebration showcased the unique Filipino-Chinese lifestyle of the Filipino community in Shanghai by partnering with individuals, groups, associations, and business enterprises as sponsors, vendors or exhibitors of various wares and services," the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said. The exhibit booths featured Philippine arts and culture, trade goods, professions, and interest groups. According to the DFA, the Philippine Consulate worked closely with the Filipino community in Shanghai, the Philippine Tourism Office, and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in putting up the exhibit. "The Philippine exhibition booth focused on the Consulate's services, as well as the Philippines as a prime tourist destination and as an investment haven," the DFA said. The DFA said the event served as a chance to celebrate and rekindle the Filipino roots and heritage. - VVP, GMA News
