DepEd exec: Four of 10 kids in public schools join gangs

Department of Education Undersecretary Alberto Muyot said as many as four out of 10 students in public schools join gangs, radio dzBB's Glen Juego reported. According to the report, Muyot advised parents to keep a closer watch on their children and help them stay away from local school gangs. Muyot encouraged parents to spend more time with their children as those who join gangs usually feel that they lack attention from their parents. Those who join gangs may tend to learn bad habits such as disrespect for authority, he said. Earlier, the police said they are keeping watch over school gangs as they do not discount the possibility of their involvement in drugs. - VVP, GMA News
