Comelec: July 18 to 23 registration week for disabled persons

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Friday said persons with disabilities (PWD) will be given priority during voter registration from July 18 to 23, which will also be called PWD registration week. In a minute resolution dated June 15, 2011, the Comelec directed all offices of election officers around the country to give priority to PWDs during the PWD registration week. The scheduled list-up is part of the ongoing registration period for the May 2013 polls which started on May 3. It will end on Oct. 31, 2012. In a statement released Friday, the Comelec said that they will be holding satellite registrations in accessible venues in major cities such as SM malls and in barangays where there are many PWD resgistrants. It noted, however, that registrants can only register at venues in the city or municipality where they are residents. — Kimberly Jane Tan/RSJ, GMA News
