PNoy to be 'gentleman' with Arroyo at Miriam wedding anniversary – Palace

Saying President Benigno Aquino III was born and raised to be a gentleman, Malacañang on Saturday said there will be no “fireworks" between Aquino and his predecessor Gloria Arroyo at the 40th wedding anniversary of Sen. Miriam Santiago Sunday. Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte indicated Aquino will be civil to Arroyo when they attend the event at the Manila Cathedral. “President Aquino was born and raised to be a gentleman, I don’t think we can expect anything untoward pag nagkita sila (if they cross paths)," Valte said on government radio dzRB. Both Aquino and Arroyo were invited to attend the 40th wedding anniversary of Sen. Santiago, where she will renew vows with her husband Narciso Jr. In past weeks, Malacañang had been engaged in a word war with Arroyo’s allies, who accused Aquino of coddling his “KKK." The KKK stands for Kaibigan (friends), Kaklase (classmates) and Kabarilan (shooting buddies). While Arroyo’s allies in the House of Representatives vowed to look into the irregularities of Aquino’s so-called KKK, Valte said Aquino will be civil to Arroyo at Sunday’s event. — LBG, GMA News
