Sto. Niño image in Kalibo sheds tears — report

Residents of a village in Kalibo town in Aklan province are startled over an image of the Santo Niño (Christ Child) reportedly shedding tears, a radio report said Saturday. A dzXL radio report said the Torcuator family of New Buswang village discovered the "phenomenon" as early as Tuesday night. The report quoted Salvador Torcuator as saying he saw the tears flow from the image's eyes to its neck. The image has been with his family since 1981, Torcuator said, claiming it was impossible for the image to have been wet because of rains. The report said the family had consulted a faith healer, who claimed the Santo Niño merely wanted a "change of clothes." Many Filipinos are Catholics with a strong devotion to the Santo Niño. — JE, GMA News
