Army official seriously hurt in Negros Or road accident


An Army official assigned in northern Negros Oriental is in critical condition following a vehicular accident in Guihulngan City Thursday night, news website reported Saturday. First Lieutenant Angelito Castro Luna, 31, who sustained severe head injuries, is in critical condition at the Silliman University Medical Center, according to Visayan Daily Star. Luna is the civil military operations officer of the 11th Infantry Battalion based in McKinley, Guihulngan, the report said. Col. Luis Manuel Ochotorena, 302nd brigade commander, said the accident happened when Luna was on his way to the battalion headquarters from La Libertad, where he followed up documents for a scholarship program. He was also complying with daily requirements for submission to the brigade, sending emails to media outlets about the battalion's Lakbay-Aral project. — JE, GMA News
