'Broken-hearted' man commits suicide in Butuan City

BUTUAN CITY — Authorities found a supposedly grief-stricken man hanging lifeless from an Ipil-Ipil tree Friday morning in Purok 3-A, Resurrection, Barangay 23-Holy Redeemer in the city, a police report said. A report to the Caraga Regional Police Office quoted the victim's aunt Purisima Nicanor Arbezo as saying Longkoy Nicanor, 23, hang himself using a nylon cord. An initial investigation showed the victim was showing unusual behavior days before the incident, and that some witnesses had said that on one occasion the victim burned his clothes. According to the victim’s aunt, his nephew was broken-hearted and was heard saying he will commit suicide.
