Report: Over P1M worth of ecstasy drug seized in Bacolod


The police seized some P1.075 million worth of ecstasy pills after a sting operation in Bacolod City over the weekend. According to a report on news site Visayan Daily Star on Monday, the police arrested architectural firm contractor Angelo Jimenez Bongco, 40, during the operation. The report said the drugs seized during the sting operation at the Barangay Singcang-Airport on Saturday were 716 tablets of high-grade ecstasy pills valued at P1,075,000. Bacolod City police chief Senior Superintendent Ricardo de la Paz said Bongco could be the supplier of ecstasy tablets to socialites and party-goers not only in Bacolod City, but in other parts of the country as well. Sting operation According to the report, BCPO City Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Task Group team leader Senior Inspector Joemarie Occeño said the operation stemmed from a tip given to Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City Occeño negotiated to buy 750 tablets of ecstasy from Bongco and agreed to meet at the parking lot of the beach club. Bongco arrived at the meeting place and handed a brown envelope containing two boxes and a cylinder of 616 suspected ecstasy tablets to Occeño, who immediately arrested him. Another box containing 100 tablets of suspected ecstasy drugs was recovered under the driver’s seat of Bongco’s vehicle during a search. The report said the police also seized five bundles of boodle money used in the purchase of the illegal drugs, a black wallet with P8,700 in cash, a magazine for a cal-.45 pistol with ammunition, three mobile phones, and important documents.
