Report: LTFRB approves fare hike for taxis in Baguio City

Taxi riders in Baguio City have to shell out at least an extra P10, after the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) approved a fare hike for taxi operators there. LTFRB board member Manuel Iway said the minimum fare will now be P35, up by P10 from the previous P25, according to a report by radio dzBB's Allan Gatus. Iway said the fare hike will also involve P2 per additional meter, instead of the previous P1.50 per additional meter. Earlier, the LTFRB approved a fare hike for taxis in Metro Manila, increasing the minimum fare to P40. However, the LTFRB said only taxi drivers and operators with recalibrated taxi meters will be allowed to charge riders using the new rates. - VVP, GMA News
