PSG probes sex abuse accusation vs 3 members

The Presidential Security Group is now conducting its own probe on accusations that three of its members had sexually abused a 15-year-old girl inside their barracks in Malacañang compound. In an interview with reporters on Tuesday, Col. Ramon Mateo Dizon, PSG commander, said they will cooperate with the Manila Police District, which is now handling the case. “I sent some of my people this morning to the police station to check if there was a complainant. Apparently, there is. So basically, what the PSG will do is we will first of all cooperate with the MPD," he said. “I can assure the public that we will definitely cooperate fully with MPD and then, on our part, I have also to investigate my own men," he added. According to reports, the victim was arrested for vagrancy Tuesday dawn and that some barangay officials allegedly let the PSG take custody of the girl. Free hand Dizon said he will give the MPD a free hand on the matter. “It’s under MPD but we will cooperate with them. I don’t want also to involve myself in the investigations and to give MPD a free hand." Dizon said he already directed the battalion commander to investigate not the criminal aspect of the alleged crime, but the possible violation in their regulations. “We’re not supposed to bring unauthorized persons inside our barracks and I’m very confident that PSG will do their investigation," he said. He added that the area being described by the complainant is under the jurisdiction of a female officer, Lt. Maj. Francel Taborlupa. “I’m very confident (she) will not stand for this kind of, shall we say, these acts if indeed it did happen in her compound," Dizon said. Dizon , however, did not identify the PSG members implicated in the crime, saying as far as he knew, the complainant has yet to give names to the police investigating team. Asked if President Benigno Aquino III has already been informed of the incident, Dizon said he does not think the President should be bothered by such matter. “It’s more of a PSG concern," he said. — KBK, GMA News
