PNoy: Designating Ochoa to PAOCC a division of labor

President Benigno Aquino III has no doubts that Executive Secretary Pacquito Ochoa Jr. will be able to effectively lead the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC), saying he designating him to the position so that the two of them could have a “division of labor." Aquino, who formerly heads the PAOCC, said he designated Ochoa to the position because he will be more effective in handling the day to day needs of the commission. “He will handle it in a more day to day basis. He will also be reporting to me so nag-division of labor lang kami sa dami ng kailangang gawin dito para sabihing may focus especially on the crime," he said at a press briefing. Aquino said he wants Ochoa to focus on the problem on illegal drugs, which he said needs “a lot of focus and coordination." The commission will also focus on carnapping and kidnapping especially in Mindanao. Ochoa’s new assignment was based on Executive Order 46, which Aquino signed last June 13. The members of the PAOCC are secretaries of the departments of Interior and Local Government, Justice, National Defense, and Foreign Affairs; the National Security Adviser, the chief of the Armed Forces, the National Police, the National Intelligence Coordination Agency, the National Bureau of Investigation, and the Philippine Center for Transnational Crime. Malacañang had earlier said that the additional task will not burden Ochoa. — Amita O. Legaspi/KBK, GMA News
