Weather: ‘Falcon’ moves closer to Visayas

Rain looms on parts of the country as tropical depression "Falcon" moved closer to Eastern Visayas Tuesday afternoon, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said. In its 5 p.m. bulletin, PAGASA said "Falcon" was estimated at 610 km east-northeast of Borongan, Eastern Samar as of 2 p.m. PAGASA said "Falcon" packed maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and is forecast to move northwest at 19 kph. "Mindanao, Visayas and the western sections of Northern and Central Luzon will experience mostly mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms," it said. Moderate to strong winds blowing from southwest to southeast will prevail over Luzon and coming from the southwest to west over Visayas and Mindanao. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be moderate to rough. Earlier, PAGASA said "Falcon" is not likely to be felt until at least Wednesday. PAGASA also said its present models indicate "Falcon" is not likely to make landfall on the Philippines but may enhance the southwest monsoon. — KBK, GMA News
