Lightning disrupts LRT-1 operations for 3 hours
A power cable that caught fire after it was believed to be hit by lightning disrupted the operations of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 Tuesday afternoon, limiting its operations to between Baclaran and Monumento. LRT Administration spokesman Hernando Cabrera said they were forced to temporarily stop operations between Abad Santos and Roosevelt stations after a power cable there appeared to burn at about 2:23 p.m. "Sinarado ang Abad Santos to Roosevelt. May isang poste ng wire natin, ang kuryente na dinadaluyan ng kuryente na nagbibigay ng power, nagbaga ang poste. Umapoy, bumaga at nasunog. Ang visual inspection, mukhang tinamaan ng kidlat," Cabrera said in an interview on dzBB radio. A report by GMA News' Ivan Mayrina on "24 Oras" Tuesday night said the operations from Abad Santos and Roosevelt stations were suspended for almost three hours.
