Cainta suspends classes Friday

Classes in the elementary and high school levels in Cainta town in Rizal province on Friday were amid rains from tropical storm “Falcon" (Meari). Town Mayor Dominic Ilagan said this was due to the possibility of “Falcon" further intensifying on late Thursday night and Friday. “Nais ko ideklara bukas ay dinedeklara natin walang pasok in public and private elementary at high school, para ang bata safe sa bahay (I am declaring the suspension of classes in the public and private elementary and high school on Friday so students will be safe)," he said in an interview on dzBB radio. Citing reports reaching him, he said rains continued to pour on Cainta as of 8 p.m. Thursday. “Hanggang ngayon malakas pa ulan at mamayang gabi baka mas lumakas pa ... we are anticipating that (Up to now the rains have been heavy and we are anticipating ‘Falcon’ to intensify further)," he said. Ilagan also said the rain has caused flooding in some areas in Cainta, with some families in areas like Sto. Domingo village being evacuated to the multipurpose covered court. He also said floods in some areas have reached waist level, although the Cainta Junction area is passable to vehicles. - KBK, GMA News
