14 hurt in 4-vehicle smashup at NLEX

At least 14 people were reported injured in a four-vehicle smashup along the North Luzon Expressway in Pampanga province early Friday. NLEX supervisor Ariel Salita said the accident occurred near the San Simon exit heading for San Fernando in Pampanga province.

"[Ang] Initial report ng patrol namin nang mangyari ang aksidente malakas ang ulan at hangin (Our patrol teams' initial reports indicated the accident occurred amid strong winds and heavy rains)," Salita said in an interview on dzBB radio. He did not immediately identify those injured, who he said were rushed to a hospital in San Fernando City in Pampanga. Also, he said their initial investigation showed the vehicles in the smashup included a 14-wheeler dump truck, a six-wheeler Elf-type truck, a passenger jeep, and an Innova-type Asian utility vehicle. — RSJ, GMA News
