NDRRMC: 1 hurt, 15 missing in 'Falcon' wake
At least one person was hurt while 15 remain missing in the wake of tropical storm "Falcon" (Meari), the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Saturday. In its 6 a.m. update, the NDRRMC identified the injured as Lily Rose Cesista, who was hurt while running from her house when a tornado hit Quezon City Friday. "(Cesista) was injured when she slipped while running from her house. She was taken to the National Orthopedic Hospital by a Barangay Kagawad," it said. The tornado affected Balete Drive corner 9th, Hibiscus and 6th Streets; and Bongavilla corner Cannon Street, Barangay Mariana in New Manila district. It partially damaged 15 houses and caused the fence in Kamuning Police Station to collapse, damaging two taxi cabs and one Mazda sedan. Also, it caused trees and electric posts to fall. The NDRRMC said another tornado occurred around 11 a.m. Friday in Barangay Guintas, Barotac Nuevo in Iloilo, damaging 24 houses and destroying 25 others. Meanwhile, it said floods from Falcon affected at least 68,939 families or 329,904 people in 220 villages in 27 towns and 14 cities in four regions. Of the affected, 15,621 families or 75,150 people were brought to 77 evacuation centers. Estimated cost of damages to agriculture and infrastructure in Central Luzon alone is pegged at P5,210,940.40. Impassable roads Valenzuela: Barangay Lingunan from Rubber Master Road to Dumpsite are impassable to all types of vehicles. Brgy Bisig, Pulo Plaza in Brgy Pulo, Elysian Street in Brgy Marulas, Main Road in Brgy Palasan, F. Andaya St. in Brgy Wawang Pulo, Maurrutia in Brgy Arkong Bato, and A. Deato St. in Brgy Balangkas are not passable to light vehicles Malabon: Maton Perez (Tonsuya) is not passable to all types of vehicles while C. Arellano Sagwa, Sitio 6, Don Juana and R. Cruz in Dampalit, Matsilo (infront of M-1), Messina in MH del Pilar, Bustamante, M. Clara, Tatawid Intersection, Panghulo Road, Sto. Rosario, and Gov Pascual Niugan are not passable to light vehicles. However, Gen Luna and Caingin in MH del Pilar is passable to all types of vehicles. Pasay City: Barangays 177, 180, 181, 182, 183, 184, and 185 are all impassable to lightvehicles. Protacio and Cartimar in Taft Avenue is impassable to light vehicles. Las Piñas: Basa Compound in Zapote and Perpetual Village in Pulang Lupa Uno are impassable to light vehicles. Bulacan province: K0023+916 Abangan Sur is passable to heavy equipment only. McArthur Highway boundary of Marilao and Meycauayan is not passable to light vehicles. K0020 Pandayan Section of the Manila North Road is impassable to all types of vehicles. Region IV-A (CALABARZON): The Lian Section of Nasugbu-Lian-Calatagan Road K0100+100- K0100+600 is flooded before and after Bagbag Bridge and is impassable to light vehicles. Sumulong highway after Masinage going towards Marikina impassable to light vehicles. Marikina evacuation In Marikina City, meanwhile, more than 25,000 residents voluntarily evacuated their homes, according to Mayor Del de Guzman. De Guzman told dzBB radio some 25,174 people had evacuated their homes as of Saturday morning. "Sila tumugon sa panawagan natin na pansamantalang lumikas (They heeded our call to voluntarily evacuate)," he said. As of Saturday morning, he said the water level at the Marikina River had reached 17.5 meters, down from 18.2 meters at 2 a.m. De Guzman said residents will be allowed to return to their homes once the river's water level reaches 15 meters. — LBG, GMA News
