Malacañang to evacuees: Keep surroundings clean
Malacañang on Saturday appealed to families who evacuated their homes due to floods from tropical storm “Falcon" (Meari) to keep their surroundings at the evacuation centers clean to prevent or at least minimize the spread of diseases. Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said each family has a very small space in evacuation centers, most of which are public schools or government buildings. “[Kung maaari po lamang] maglinis ng paligid na ginagalawan natin dahil masikip sa evacuation center. Pag nagkasakit ang isa madaling kumalat," Valte said on government-run dzRB radio. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council’s 6 a.m. Saturday report indicated 15,621 families or 75,150 people are inside 77 evacuation centers. It said these evacuation centers are in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Bicol. Valte also asked the evacuees to be considerate and to cooperate with local government officials while in evacuation centers. “To people in evacuation centers, we hope for your cooperation. The space you have is limited, and you share the same area with many other families. Please heed the instructions of local authorities," she said. — LBG, GMA News
