NDRRMC: Missing fisherman from Bicol rescued in Samar

At least one of 10 fishermen from Catanduanes in the Bicon REgion in Luzon who was reported missing in the wake of tropical storm “Falcon" (Meari) was found alive in Northern Samar in the Eastern Visayas Region, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Saturday. NDRRMC executive director Benito Ramos cited reports indicating fishermen in Northern Samar province found Prospero Tabios, 55, at the shore. “Mahinang mahina siya nang makita [at ngayon nasa] ospital, buhay. Na-recover ng mangingisda sa dalampasigan ng Mapanas, Northern Samar," Ramos said in an interview on dzBB radio. He said Tabios is due to be brought back to his hometown in Virac, Catanduanes, “in a few days." A separate report on government-run dzRB radio said Tabios survived four days without food. Ramos said Tabios was one of 10 fishermen earlier reported missing after encountering bad weather conditions brought by Falcon. Falcon left Philippine territory before dawn Saturday, but state weather forecasters warned monsoon rains may still continue. — LBG, GMA News
