PAGASA: Floods, landslides still loom over north Luzon

Flash floods and landslides still threaten Northern Luzon some 24 hours after tropical storm "Falcon" (Meari) left Philippine territory, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Sunday. In its 5 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said this is due to the southwest monsoon that is still affecting the northern Luzon area. "Northern Luzon will experience monsoon rains which may trigger flashfloods and landslides while Central Luzon will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms," it said. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening, it added. Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Southwest will prevail over Luzon and Western Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Meanwhile, PAGASA warned of strong to gale-force winds that are to affect the seaboards of Luzon. "Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves," it said. — LBG, GMA News
