Erap camp: No apprehensions about Michael Ray's return

The camp of former President Joseph "Erap" Estrada has no apprehensions about the return of former Senior Superintendent Michael Ray Aquino to the Philippines to be investigated for the Dacer-Corbito double-murder case. Estrada’s son, San Juan Rep. Jose Victor Ejercito, maintained it is not in the former president’s character to get involved in such a heinous crime. “Wala sa karakter ng aking amang ma-involve sa ganyang karumal-dumal na krimen. Hindi siya nasangkot sa anumang kaso ng human rights violation. Ako ay confident naman na hindi siya madadawit," he said in an interview on dzBB radio after Aquino’s arrival. He said his father and publicist Salvador Dacer were friends, and his father would not do such a thing. Ejercito also said he is confident Aquino will not implicate his father in the crime just to evade liability. Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito were killed in November 2000. In a statement he issued after his arrival from the US early Sunday, Michael Ray Aquino said he received no instruction from the elder Estrada or from now-Sen. Panfilo Lacson to harm or kill Dacer or driver Corbito. “Ako naman ay naniniwala kay Col. Michael Ray Aquino na ito di niya gagawin talaga (I am confident Aquino will not implicate my father)," Ejercito said. — LBG, GMA News
