Pilipinas-Smart Gilas dominated Indonesia the entire game to score an easy 89-50 win in the championship match of the 9th Southeast Asian Basketball Association (SEABA) men's championship Sunday at the BritAma Arena Sports Mall in Jakarta, Indonesia. It was Gilas' fourth straight win as they swept past their opponents in the annual tournament to secure a slot in the 26th FIBA-Asia Championship this September in China. Wuhan, the capital of Hebei province in China, will host the FIBA-Asia Championship — a 2012 London Olympic qualifier — from September 15-25. The Philippines scored wins against Malaysia (97-71), Indonesia (94-54) and Singapore (106-51) to earn the first finals berth. Indonesia defeated Malaysia, 77-47, to earn the right of facing the Philippines in the gold medal match. Mark Barroca scored 17 points to lead Gilas' scoring. He was ably supported by Marcus Douthit's 16 markers and the 13 of team skipper Chris Tiu. Mac Baracael finished with 12 points also for Gilas, who shot 47 percent (30-of-64) from the field. — JVP/KBK, GMA News
