NDRRMC: Death toll from 'Falcon' up to 3


The death toll from Tropical Storm Falcon (Meari) rose to three as of Monday morning, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said. In its 8 a.m. update, the NDRRMC also said those affected by floods brought by Falcon breached the one-million mark, while damage to property was estimated at P152.711 million. Among the latest fatalities were:

  • Marlon Jay Musni, from Sta. Cruz, Mexico, Pampanga (drowning)
  • Fedelito Muaña Jr., from Brgy. East Bajac-Bajac, Olongapo City, Zambales (drowning) At least three were injured, while 18 remain missing, the NDRRMC added.
    The NDRRMC said Falcon had affected 231,542 families or 1,103,428 people in 698 villages in 69 towns and 21 cities in four regions. Of these, 7,906 families or 38,485 people are still in 126 evacuation centers. "A significant increase was noted in the affected population most particularly in the provinces of Pampanga, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, and Bulacan... However, in totality, a considerable decrease of about 16,064 families or 73,335 [people] in 55 evacuation centers as compared to previous report was noted. Most of the evacuees went home when the flood subsided," it said. In Metro Manila, 25 evacuation centers are still serving 762 families or 3,769 people; while in Central Luzon, 99 evacuation centers are serving 7,139 families or 34,693 people. About 120 houses were destroyed while 1,162 were damaged in Central and Southern Luzon, Metro Manila, the Bicol Region, and Western Visayas. Damage to property was estimated at P152,711,284.90, including P121.85 million in agriculture and P30.86 million in infrastructure. Impassable roads Metro Manila:
  • Malabon City: Doña Juana and R. Diaz Streets are not passable to light vehicles due to knee-deep floodwaters as of 7 a.m. Monday.
  • Taguig City: Laura Drive St. in Brgy. Bagumbayan is still not passable to all types of vehicles due to knee-deep floodwaters as of 7 a.m. Monday.
  • Valenzuela City: Cordero/Navarete and Decena Streets in Brgy. Arkong Bato are still not passable to light vehicles due to 17- to 18-inch-deep floodwaters as of 7 a.m. Monday. Tarlac:
  • Sta. Rosa-Tarlac Road (Lapaz): (km 129 + 450 – km 132 + 150) is not passable to light vehicles. Alternate Route: Take Tarlac-Victoria-Guimba Road. Light vehicles reroute to Poblacion side road.
  • Concepcion–Lapaz Road (km 136 + 380 – km 136 + 426) is not passable to light vehicles.
  • Paniqui-Camiling Wawa Road (Brgy. Bilad Section and Brgy. Sawat Section, Camiling, Tarlac) is passable only to light vehicles. Alternate route: Vehicles bound for Bayambang, Pangasinan to take Sinilian Road. Pampanga:
  • Apalit-Macabebe–Masantol Road (km 58 + 400 – km 61 + 200) is hardly passable to heavy vehicles. — RSJ, GMA News
