PHL seeks intl donors’ help for conflict, disaster victims in Mindanao


The Philippines sought the help of international donors to help victims of conflict and natural disasters in Mindanao, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Tuesday. During a briefing in Geneva last week, Philippine Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) in Geneva Evan Garcia attended the informal donors’ briefing on the Mindanao Humanitarian Action Plan (HAP), the DFA said. UN Resident/Humanitarian Coordinator in the Philippines Dr. Jacqueline Badcock delivered the briefing at the Palais des Nations on June 23, according to a DFA news release. The briefing was organized under the auspices of the United Nations Office of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), to promote donor support for the Mindanao HAP. According to the DFA,the Mindanao HAP aims to assist displaced persons, meet humanitarian needs and pave the way for early recovery in areas hit by conflict or natural disasters. - VVP, GMA News
