P100k reward put up for suspects in slay try on Negros councilor

A P100,000 reward has been put up for information leading to the arrest of the suspects who shot Bayawan (Negros Oriental) Councilor Victoriano Alabastro last week. Bayawan Mayor Rene Gaudiel said the money will be sourced from the city’s intelligence fund, news site Visayan Daily Star reported Tuesday. The report said the police have activated a mobile hotline — 09176349147 — to receive tips from concerned citizens. Unidentified men shot and injured Alabastro at the Negros Oriental State University Bayawan-Sta. Catalilna campus on Friday last week. Gaudiel said the city council and the city peace and order council approved of the reward offer during a meeting in Dumaguete City Monday, after visiting Alabastro at a private hospital in Dumaguete. The Visayan Daily Star report said Friday’s incident was the third attempt on Alabastro’s life, although police had officially recorded only two incidents. - VVP, GMA News
