Ex-Budget chief Diokno asks why May fiscal data still unreported

University of the Philippines economics professor and former Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno is asking why government data for May have not yet been released. The latest fiscal data – usually released every 17th of the month – is long overdue, Diokno said in an email Monday night. “… Why hasn’t the Department of Finance (DOF) or the Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) released it yet?" Diokno said. GMA News Online tried to get a comment from Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima, but the secretary has not yet replied as of this posting. The Finance Department was scheduled to report on government’s fiscal position last June 23, but moved the date to June 24 only to reschedule it again to an indefinite date this week. — VS, GMA News
