NDRRMC: 'Falcon' death toll rises to 6; damage reaches over P230M


The death toll from tropical storm "Falcon" (international code name Meari) rose to six on Wednesday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said. In its 8:00 a.m. update on Wednesday, the NDRRMC also said the damage to agriculture and infrastructure in Regions 3, 4-A and 5 was P232,972,950.20:

  • Infrastructure: P30.86 million
  • Agriculture: P202.11 million The NDRRMC identified the latest fatality as Glen Bermitico, 22, of Marilao, Bulacan, who was said to have drowned. At least three others were reported injured while at least 14 remain missing as of Wednesday. The NDRRMC said "Falcon" affected 361,864 families (or 1,666,730 people) in 1,113 villages in 87 towns and 21 cities in five regions. Of these, 5,323 families (or 26,214 people) were still housed in 78 evacuation centers, including five in Metro Manila. Some 161 houses were destroyed while 1,212 were damaged in the wake of "Falcon." Damage to property was estimated at P232,972,950.20, including P202.11 million in agriculture and P30.86 million in infrastructure. - VVP, GMA News
