DTI finds price tag violation in surprise market inspection
Inspection teams led by Trade Secretary Gregory Domingo caught some market vendors by surprise in an unannounced inspection at markets in Quezon City. The inspections sought to see if vendors were exploiting the devastation brought by tropical storm "Falcon" (Meari), radio dzBB's Glen Juego reported. "Ang ibang stall walang price tag. Pinaalalahanan namin ang mga tindera na maglagay ng price tag ng kanilang mga bilihin," Domingo said in an interview on dZBB shortly after inspecting the Mega-Q Mart along Epifanio delos Santos Avenue. He said they also tested some scales, finding at least one of them underweight and without the proper seals. Domingo also said that while some vegetables from Pampanga may have been "overpriced," it was understandable because Pampanga suffered heavy damage from Falcon. "Dahil sa bagyo sa Pampanga may nagtaas ng presyo ng gulay (pero) naintindihan natin yan," he said. — LBG, GMA News
