NDRRMC: Death toll from 'Falcon' up to 7


The death toll from Tropical Storm Falcon (Meari) rose to seven, even as the estimated damage to property rose to P417.419 million as of Thursday morning. In its 6 a.m. update, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said six of the fatalities were from Central Luzon. The fatalities were identified as:

  • Ranny Bernardo, 1, Bulacan (drowning)
  • Glen Bermitico, 22, Bulacan (drowning)
  • Fedelito Muaña Jr., 14, Olongapo (drowning, previously reported missing)
  • Marlon Jay Musni, Pampanga (drowning)
  • Ricardo Galang, 61, Pampanga (drowning)
  • Sonny Dizon, 25, Bataan (drowning)
  • John Paul Alcantara, 12, Rizal (drowning) Four were injured while 14 remained missing, the same NDRRMC report said. The NDRRMC said Falcon affected 366,261 families or 1,683,545 people in 1,148 villages in 88 towns and 21 cities in five regions. Of these, 4,958 families or 24,243 people are still housed in 70 evacuation centers. Damage to property was estimated at P417,418,789.20, including P386,558,789.20 in agriculture and P30.86 million in infrastructure. As of Thursday, only the Manila North Road (Cut-cut Bridge in Capas, Tarlac) is temporarily closed due to repair of the bridge deck. Motorists were advised to take the Subic-Tarlac Expressway and Mabalacat-Capas Road as alternate routes. — RSJ, GMA News
