NDRRMC: 2 missing fishermen rescued in Bicol

Two fishermen reported missing in the wake of tropical storm "Falcon" (Meari) have been rescued, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Friday. In its 6 a.m. update, the NDRRMC identified the fishermen as Ronald Tabor and Denver Sta. Ines, both of San Vicente village in Virac town in Catanduanes in Bicol. "Ronald Tabor (named in earlier reports as Rolando Sarmiento Tabios) and Denver Sta. Ines, both from Barangay San Vicente, had been rescued in Viga town's Barangay Tambongon by a group of fishermen. Their boat drifted away from the shore after its engine conked out. They are now at the hospital for medical check-up," it said. The NDRRMC said at least 12 are still missing – eight in Bicol, two in Bataan, one in Mountain Province, and one in Rizal. The NDRRMC said the death toll remained at seven, while four were injured. Some 370,459 families or 1,700,085 people in 1,188 villages in 91 towns and 21 cities in 12 provinces were affected by "Falcon," the NDRRMC added. Of these, 593 families or 2,259 people are still housed in 19 evacuation centers. Damage to property was estimated at P417.419 million, including P386.559 million in agriculture and P30.86 million in infrastructure. — LBG, GMA News
