Weather: ITCZ may bring floods, landslides to Palawan, Albay

Rains caused by an inter-tropical convergence zone may bring flash floods and landslides to Albay and northern Palawan, state weather forecasters said Friday. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration also said the ITCZ will bring rains over most parts of the country. "The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is still expected to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Southern Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao but widespread rains is highly probable in northern Palawan and Albay which may trigger flash floods and landslides," it said in its 11 a.m. advisory. Earlier, PAGASA warned of possible flash floods and landslides over the eastern parts of the Visayas and Mindanao. It added the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening. On the other hand, light to moderate winds blowing from the east to southeast will prevail over Luzon and coming from the southwest to west over the rest of the country, PAGASA said. — RSJ, GMA News
