FVR daughter Jo Ramos buried at Manila Memorial Park

The late music performer and athlete Josephine "Jo" Ramos was laid to rest on Friday at the Manila Memorial Park. Jo Ramos, 54, succumbed to lung cancer last Monday morning. She is survived by Sergio, her 17 year-old son, and her parents former President Fidel Ramos and former First Lady Amelita Ramos.
Sergio's father, actor Lloyd Samartino said he felt sad and shocked over the death of his former wife. Samartino also said he would give his son the freedom to choose which side of the family to stay with. "I was very very sad for my son because Jo and I have been apart for quite a long time already and my son grew up practically with her and this happened very prematurely," he said in an earlier report. The death of the athlete, performer and inveterate smoker Jo Ramos from lung cancer prompted her father to urge others to quit smoking. On Friday morning, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) finally started implementing its drive against smoking in public places, "arresting" several people caught still puffing away in various areas, even as the offenders insisted they were not aware of the anti-smoking drive. — Carmela Lapeña/LBG, GMA News
