Singer Amy Winehouse site hacked

Singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse fell victim to hackers Friday (Manila time), as her website was defaced with an expletive-filled image. Visitors to Winehouse's website (www.amywhitehouse.com) were redirected to her Facebook page (www.facebook.com/amywinehouse) Screenshots of the defaced site were posted on some sites, including The Hacker News. The hackers identified themselves as "Swagger Security," even as they said they are not identified with defunct hacker group Lulz Security or hacktivist group Anonymous. Computer security firm Sophos noted the screenshot of the defaced site had an image of rapper Lil'B. "We have to be grateful, of course, that the attack appears to have been more akin to mindless graffiti, than an attempt to plant malware on a popular singer's internet site," Sophos senior technology consultant Graham Cluley said in a blog post. Cluley pointed out that Winehouse was not the first high-profile singer to fall victim to hackers. He cited an incident in 2009, when Paul McCartney's official website had malicious code planted on it by hackers, which downloaded code to spy on users as they logged into their online bank accounts. — TJD, GMA News
