4 robbers killed in Rizal province shootout

At least four suspected robbers were killed in a predawn encounter with police in Rizal province Saturday, after pulling off their last heist. The incident occurred at 2:35 a.m. in Taytay town, according to a report by radio dzBB’s Paulo Santos. Police finally caught up with the suspects at Bay Town in Muzon village after a one-hour chase that started along Ortigas Extension in San Isidro village. An initial investigation showed the suspects, on a white Tamaraw FX-type vehicle, had robbed one Lourdes Sultura along Ortigas Extension. A police team alerted to the incident chanced upon the fleeing robbers. The report quoted police as saying the suspects fired at them during the chase, prompting authorities to fire back, killing all four suspects on the spot. — LBG, GMA News
