PAGASA: Flash floods, landslides threaten Albay, Palawan

Flash floods and landslides caused by rains brought by an inter-tropical convergence zone still loom over Albay and northern Palawan, state weather forecasters said Saturday. “Widespread rains are highly probable in northern Palawan and Albay which may trigger flashfloods and landslides," the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said. “The inter-tropical convergence zone is still expected to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao," it added. Meanwhile, PAGASA forecaster Aldczar Aurelio told state-run dzRB radio that the agency continues to keep watch over Palawan and eastern Mindanao, including Davao. Flash floods caused by heavy rains hit at least five villages in Davao City earlier this week. At least 30 had been confirmed dead in the wake of the floods, government records showed. — JE, GMA News
