Google+ to disable semi-private post sharing

In a bid to boost privacy, Google has tweaked its upcoming social network Google+ and cut off the ability to widely share some partially private posts. Google+ software engineer Kelly Ellis also reminded users that commenting and sharing on posts can always be disabled. "Starting next week, limited posts will not be sharable publicly. This is really important to us. On Google+, you should be in control of who sees your posts." Ellis said in a video. Ellis also said that Google will be rolling out experimental features, such as the ability to display posts with activity from the people that users are close to. "We're rolling these changes out over the long weekend so expect to see them soon," she said. Tech site CNET said that at present, Google+ allows semi-private posts to be shared publicly. "At the moment, if I created a post and specified that it could be viewed only by family members, they would nevertheless have the option to share it publicly--the Google+ equivalent of forwarding e-mail--unless I remembered to select the 'Disable reshare' option," said CNET's Declan McCullagh. The CNET report added that even during its limited launch earlier this week, Google+ prevented users from sharing the entire thread of a limited discussion. — TJD, GMA News
