Gov't workers urged to give info on harassment by contractors

Militant government employees should provide more information to back their claims that losing or blacklisted contractors are harassing some of their colleagues with baseless administrative and criminal charges, a Palace official said Saturday. Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said that while Malacañang expects the Department of Justice (DOJ) to look into the matter, it would greatly help if the militant government employees could provide more data. “It would be a big help to the Justice Department if they [could] give more information," Valte said on government-run dzRB radio. The Confederation for Unity, Recognition and Advancement of Government Employees (COURAGE) had urged President Benigno Aquino III to investigate losing and blacklisted contractors, who harass government employees by filing baseless administrative and criminal cases as revenge. COURAGE also said some active and former government employees wanted the President to look into the financial status of these blacklisted companies if they are paying the right taxes and submitting the proper documents. The employees reportedly mentioned a contractor involved in printing government forms whose practice is to file administrative and criminal cases after losing a bidding. — JE, GMA News
