QC cop hurt over traffic spat with colleague


A Quezon City policeman was wounded after figuring in a shooting incident that stemmed from a traffic spat with a colleague Sunday night. The Quezon City Police District is now investigating the incident in Holy Spirit village that wounded SPO1 Byron Antonio, radio dzBB reported Monday. Antonio was shot and wounded during the confrontation with PO1 Dave Carlos Santos. Both policemen are detailed at the Quezon City police headquarters in Camp Karingal, the report said. A separate report by dzBB's Manny Vargas said Antonio is a member of the city police's District Police Intelligence Unit while Santos is a member of the city police Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team. Initial investigation showed Santos and Antonio had a verbal confrontation after their motorcycles bumped each other in Holy Spirit village. The dzBB report said Antonio allegedly pulled out his firearm and threatened Santos, who left the scene but returned supposedly with personnel of the SWAT. An alleged shootout ensued where Antonio was wounded and rushed to the Chinese General Hospital, while Santos was brought to police headquarters for questioning. — RSJ, GMA News
