Robin Padilla’s brother arrested for alleged wife-beating

Royette Padilla, the elder brother of actor Robin Padilla, was arrested for allegedly beating up his own wife, according to a report Monday on GMA News’ “24 Oras." The alleged mauling happened in a bar in Angeles City, Pampanga at around 2 a.m. Monday.

Ayun, bigla nalang siyang nagwala," said Jane Cheryl Padilla, Royette’s 39-year-old wife. Padilla was immediately arrested and detained in the Angeles City Jail following his wife’s complaint. According to the report, Padilla was also detained for having a standing warrant of arrest for a 1997 case of frustrated homicide. Padilla denied his wife’s allegations, saying that it was she who kicked a glass door that hit him. He is charged for violating the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004 (Republic Act 9262). — BC/MRT/VS, GMA News
