Hacker hits Paypal UK's Twitter account

For some hours early Wednesday (Manila time), a hacker hijacked the Twitter account of online payment broker PayPal's United Kingdom branch. The hack appeared similar to the attack on FoxNews last July 4, in which the perpetrators planted a fake story that US President Barack Obama was assassinated. "This account was hacked earlier. We have it in our control now. Your personal data is still 100% safe, hack occurred on Twitter not PayPal," PayPal UK said in a tweet shortly after 7 a.m. Manila time. It also apologized for the "bad language" that was posted while the account was under the hacker's control. "We apologise for the bad language and childish nature of tweets that came from this account at the time," it said. Computer security firm Sophos said that the hacker appeared to have a dispute with PayPal over a frozen account. It noted that one of the tweets sent by the hacker on the hijacked account said, ""PAYPAL FROZE ALL MY MONEY FOR NO REASON, F*** YOU!" The offensive tweets also appeared to have been taken offline as of 8 am Manila time. — TJD, GMA News
