Tighter security in Azkals' home game vs Kuwait

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) will provide additional security measures in and around the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex (RMSC) in the Azkals's home match against Kuwait in the second round of the 2014 World Cup Asia group playoffs. Although there were no reported cases of fan injuries in the Azkals-Sri Lanka match last Sunday, PSC chairman Ricardo Garcia said in a radio interview that more safety measures will be implemented on July 28 when the Philippines faces Kuwait. Garcia said they will put up more lights around the perimeter of the stadium to provide safety for the fans who'll be watching the night game at 7 p.m. on July 28. "Medyo madilim 'yung mga ilaw outside the stadium. We will light up the perimeter of the stadium para na rin ito sa safety ng mga fans na uuwi pagkatapos ng laro," Garcia said Thursday in the PSC program on dzSR. The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) said in an earlier interview that there is no problem with the lights inside the RMSC making the 77-year-old stadium capable of hosting night games. The lights were even turned on in the second half of the Philippines-Sri Lanka second leg match. Garcia said that the expense of installing the lights will be minimal since lights from the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium will be also be redirected towards the exit points. He added they will set up more exit points in the Azkals's next game at the RMSC for a smoother flow of foot traffic. "We don't like any incident that we will regret afterwards." - Reuben Terrado/JVP, GMA News
