Pinoy youths urged to send prayers for World Youth Day 'Universal Rosary'

Filipino youths who cannot go to Spain for this year's World Youth Day (WYD) celebration in August were encouraged to take part in the event by sending videos for the "WYD Universal Rosary." The Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) said the WYD organizers invited young Filipino Catholics to record the “Our Father," “Hail Mary" and “Glory Be" in their native languages or dialects. The WYD will be held from August 16 to 21. The CBCP, quoting the WYD Main Acts office, said the prayer recordings will accompany the praying of the Holy Rosary during the Vigil with Pope Benedict XVI on August 20. Video format The videos are to be recorded in mp4 format. The CBCP said prayers may be recited "individually or by groups." "(The) more original, (the) better it will be," the CBCP quoted the WYD Universal Rosary as saying. Audio-video recordings may be submitted to the organizers online through email rosario@jmj2011madrid.com. Youths who record their prayers may also burn the mp4 files on CDs or DVDs and send them to the WYD Main Acts office at Plaza de San Juan de la Cruz, 2b, 8003 Madrid (Spain); Tfn. +34913426779. Praying with the pope “One of the most important programmed acts is the Holy Rosary guided by the Pope, and we consider your help absolutely essential," the CBCP quoted Mercedes Boudet of the WYD Main Acts office as saying. "For this reason, we will be very grateful if you could spread this proposal in all your Episcopal Conference, Movement or Youth Delegation, in order to encourage a lot of young people to send their records so that, in this way, they participate in the WYD Holy Rosary, where every languages and accents could sound and offer this prayer to Our Mother, the Blessed Virgin," Boudet said. CBCP Episcopal Commission on the Youth Executive Secretary Fr. Conegundo Garganta forwarded the invitation of the WYD Main Acts office to the leaders of groups that will join the official ECY delegation to WYD in Madrid. - VVP, GMA News
