Did Lacson use fake travel documents? Let DFA, DOJ resolve it — Palace

It’s all up to the Foreign Affairs and Justice departments if they would take actions on the reported use of fake travel documents by Senator Panfilo Lacson to evade arrest in connection with the Dacer-Corbito murder case, Malacañang said Friday. Deputy presidential spokesperson said it was the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) that claimed that the senator used fake travel documents. “I am not aware of any investigation on the matter. [But] it is entirely up to the DFA kung makikipag-coordinate sila on this particular matter sa [Department of Justice]," Valte said. Lacson had already denied he used fake travel documents while hiding for more than a year to avoid arrest due to his supposed involvement in the Dacer-Corbito murder case. The senator left the country last year before a warrant for his arrest could be issued by a Manila court. Lacson returned more than a year later after the court withdrew the arrest order and acquitted him of the charges. Lacson was the head of the Philippine National Police from November 1999 to January 2001. It was during this time that he allegedly masterminded the abduction and killing of publicist Salvador “Bubby" Dacer and Dacer's driver, Emmanuel Corbito. At the time, Lacson was concurrent chief of the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Task Force, the unit that allegedly carried out the executions. — JE, GMA News
