GMail now allows users to tweak 'Inbox Styles'
Google is now rolling out a new feature allowing users of its email service Gmail to better manage their inboxes through its âInbox Styles." Software engineer Andrew Moedinger said that users will soon have a choice to have unread, starred, âpriority" or âimportant" messages placed at the top of the inbox page. âOver the coming weeks, weâre rolling out several new inbox styles to help you manage your mail in the way that works best for you. Once itâs turned on for your account, you can easily choose a style from the tabs at the top of your inbox," Moedinger said in a blog post. It was the latest new feature for Google-related services since Google stepped up preparations for its upcoming social network Google+. With the new feature, Moedinger said Gmail users can choose from five initial styles:
- Classic: The default inbox style most people are used to where messages are ordered chronologically, with most recent email at the top.
- Priority Inbox: Important and unread messages appear at the top of the inbox, then starred messages, then everything else.
- Important first: Important mail is at the top of the page (both read and unread messages).
- Unread first: Unread mail at the top; everything else at the bottom.
- Starred first: Starred messages at the top; everything else at the bottom. âAfter youâve settled on a style you like and used it for about a week, these tabs will go away, You can always change your inbox style from the drop down menu next to the Inbox label or from the Settings page," Moedinger said. â TJD, GMA News
