Aquino to inaugurate Nokia Siemens facility in QC

President Benigno Aquino III will inaugurate on Monday Nokia Siemens Network (NSN)'s research and development facility at the University of the Philippines-Ayala Technohub in Quezon City. The new facility is the first of in Southeast Asia to be internationally recognized in the telecommunications industry, as it services and supports all R&D teams around the world. A Malacañang statement Sunday said Aquino will view NSN’s photo gallery that includes a Philippine jeepney "symbolizing the strengthening of Philippine-Finland partnership towards communications technology development." He will then tour the company’s facilities and may have an informal interaction with software engineers. The Palace said Nokia Siemens Network chose the Philippines as its new hub for NetworkLabs in Asia over other countries due to the country’s vast resource of highly skilled engineering students and graduates from reputable universities and colleges. It listed some of these universities as Mapua Institute of Technology, De La Salle University, University of Santo Tomas, University of the Philippines and Ateneo de Manila University. - KBK, GMA News
