24 people hurt in SLEX accident

At least 24 people were injured after a concrete mixer truck hit their passenger jeep at the South Luzon Expressway early Monday. According to a report of Denver Trinidad on radio dzBB, the jeepney had stopped to pay toll at the Nichols Exit's northbound (Makati-bound) part when the truck driven by one Julie Salazar hit it from behind. Many of the passengers on the jeep driven by Ernesto Namo were on their way to work in Makati City at the time of the accident, the report said. SPO1 Marcelino Peralta of the SLEX Highway Patrol said they are verifying initial findings that the truck's brakes failed while negotiating the road that had become slippery due to the rains. The injured passengers were brought to the Parañaque Doctors Hospital, Taguig Pateros Hospital, and Makati Medical Center. - VVP, GMA News
